I have rather an eclectic voting style, non-partisan and independent thinking. In high school I campaigned for the Saskatchewan NDP. I'd never vote for them federally, but the Conservatives in office at that time were total crooks, something that was obvious even before several of them were sent to jail, and the Saskatchewan NDP have always been pragmatic and egalitarian, unlike their federal counterparts. Later, I lived in Bill Graham's riding (our Liberal foreign affairs minister) and voted for him because he was a very upright and well-respected individual. After that I voted Reform. Believe it or not, I loved Preston Manning, and the more people attacked his whiney voice or made hysterical accusations of him being a right-wing nut, the more I appreciated his soft-spoken common sense and the fact that he was the ultimate gentleman whose principles were beyond reproach. In the last election, I was not sure how to vote. My biggest peeve was that both the Alliance and Liberals have been prodded in the direction of the CanWest/Global National Post (Canada's neocon) position on things, and now we see Canada pouring money into armed forces which will no doubt in future be dragged into helping clean up the mess that other countries (I'm not mentioning any names) leave in their wake.
