GV, so what has happened to RND since LBJ? I could dig for this info if you'd like, but off the top of my head: The turning point where the USA fell behind was in 1989, when Japan surpassed the USA in university research dollars. RE: "I am always amazed at how self-professed conservatives can support Bush so strongly." Agreed. But it makes sense when you think about it because the Blue States are funding the Red States. It would be nice if the Red States could become self-reliant. Armold really needs to flex more muscle to correct this. It's illogical to tax California corporations with such high taxes only to see them run to a Red State, and then watch the Blue State's indirectly pay their taxes. We need to nip this.
