TOYOCOM and Ambient Form Alliance; New Alliance to Take on North American Market Business Wire - February 24, 2005 10:14
BOSTON, Feb 24, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Ambient Corporation (OTCBB: ABTG), and Toyo Communication Equipment Co., LTD. (TOYOCOM) of Japan, both leaders in Power Line Communications (PLC), announced today the execution of an Alliance and Distribution Agreement. TOYOCOM and Ambient have formed the Alliance to aggressively market their products to North American utilities, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), and building managers and developers.
TOYOCOM is a publicly-traded company on the Tokyo Stock Exchange and is a related company of the computer, networking, semiconductor and component giant NEC. TOYOCOM has been a DS2 licensee since 2002 and their products have been successfully deployed in large-scale pilots in Spain and Portugal.
Ambient and TOYOCOM have formed the Alliance to:
-- provide for the joint development, implementation, and commercialization of their respective PLC technologies in North America;
-- generate revenues from PLC network design, installation and sale of their respective equipment;
-- leverage greater economies of scale by collaborating the companies' respective PLC development and production efforts, and
-- cross-license their respective PLC equipment and technologies.
