John, I think the risk in real estate is NOT owning it. I bought some land in Naples in 1983 for $13,500, its now worth about $300,000. I bought my home in 1980 for $100,000 even, homes in my neighborhood now sell for a MINIMUM of $360,000. The key is LOCATION. I had many even better opportunities that I foolishly didnt take in my lifetime. Frankly, I cant even undertand how young couples starting off today can even afford to get into the game. jdn
