I use HP cartridges. It's one thing to have an old cartridge dry up. It's another to have a chip make it fail.

If they did nothing an an old cartridge damaged your printer you would also be upset. Why couldn't they tell the ink had deteriorated? Lets sue!

I have a cartridge right in front of me and its expiration is 18 months from now - clearly printed. Ink is a chemical and as such is not a nonvolatile substance.
