Scott, I was supposed to be off travelling this morning. The trip was delayed a couple of hours because of a moderate snowfall we had last night. Yes Michael97123 still does some shoveling, albeit reluctantly. Just finished a late breakfast and read the NYTimes cover to cover which is my daily routine (most days). Scott, the news from the mideast is getting better not worst. Yes there was another bloody attack in Iraq and that will continue for God knows how long. But Syria, admitting that it was affected by joint US-French pressure stated they will leave Lebanon. The new PA leadership team has mostly non-arafat folks running it. Check the pic on page 3--one of the leaders is a fat guy with what looks like a pony tail. See there is hope in that area. Now back to Page with Putin scowling at Bush and Bush looking none to pleased himself. Is it a bad thing for Bush to engage Putin on democracy? I dont think so. And Putin is no slouch, he made a crack about the non-democratic electoral college getting bush elected in 2000. He should have mentioned SCF and SCOTUS too. Chads!!! I think this is all great stuff. And Scott you should like the fat guy with the pony tail in palestine and you should feel strongly that Putin has moved in the wrong direction in terms of democracy. This is not designed to be a contentious post on this thread. So if you want to take some advice from an old liberal. Read the NYT cover to cover every morning. Skip Dowd, Krugman, Friedman and the rest. Also skip Nader, Moore and Ritter and i will ignore the right wing who in reality i mostly ignore already. I got the boot from Lindy Bill because of my abhorence of what the Swifties did. Analyse the news and come with your own conclusions. You guys were right. Its not all black and white. There is much grey so now practice what you preach. Look for the shades of grey. Criticize Bush but dont demonize him. Support Hillary so i may have a dem to vote for next time and dump john and dean. (this type of talking really rankles the true believers on the right who demonize Hillary like you guys demonize Bush) Off for that long weekend now. I look forward to the responses. mike
