"Confessions of An Economic Hit Man" by John Perkins
tinyurl.com

Hi Mark,

I've just finished up Perkins' book. I'm giving it an B+. I think he's done a fine job for a story of personal growth, but I still feel that I wanted a lot more meat on the actual machinations of the "corporatocracy" as Perkins describes the malevolent beast that employed him.

The one chapter that completely baffled me was toward the end of the book when he made a complete hash of the chronology of the CIA's effort to perpetrate a coup d'etat in Venezuala. The actual coup occurred in April, 2002, yet Perkins for some strange reason makes it seem as if this occurred in early 2003. Very curious.

I've read one reviewer claim that Perkins might be a C.I.A. agent being used to produce a "limited hangout", i.e. the cofession of some minor sins in order to get the public's mind off more egregious malevolence that the corporatocracy is currently perpetrating. I don't think we need go quite that far. I agree with you, I think Perkins pulled his punches because saying too much about the actual game could well prove to be harmful to Perkins and his family.
