Because I was born and raised here
Now I understand your views. You seem to be a nice and caring person. However you have a tunnel vision since you have never experienced war, never been to Hiroshima or Nagasaki, meeting with the last victims of the WWII atomic bombs.
Have you ever been to a country which was colonized by foreign power, or been destroyed by neighboring countries and be told what to do by people who look completely different from you?
Just imagine that the US is occupied by a foreign power, and you are subservient to these people who look completely different from you, and if you refuse, they would put you in jail, kill your family and torture your family members. You'd take arms and fight these aliens won't you? And then you'd be labelled as insurgents.
Imagine the house you are living in - a nice house that you have built through hard work and sweats and tears -, is destroyed by bombs, or your front door was damaged due the foreign soldiers kicked in to search for concealed weapons, and somehow an ooops, the wrong house, and yet all of your possessions have been damaged.
Let us assume that the foreign power come here to spread freedom from neocons, and to help you be free and to have honest elections, and that the foreign power states that the world is better off without the neocons. It does not matter that we, the US never invited them here. Let us just say that the foreign power claimed that it was told by his gods to spread freedom to the US. And that they expect that Goop would welcome them and greet them with flowers. (I know that would be over your dead body).
Goop, as a nice and caring person as you are, always try to place yourself in the other shoes. Don't do unto them what you don't like unto you. Then you'll be wise enough to consider whether you are following Christ's teachings or just develop callus: it is NIMB.
Bush made a statement that he does not know how poor people think. For once he is right.
Let the Peace of the Lord be with you and guide your way of thinking.
Shalom. |
