That sounds really painful for the horse! Is the saddle pad permanent, or do they rip it off at some point and start all over?

I don't understand how anyone could hurt a horse. It is just beyond me. When my daughter was little one of our favorite trips was to the police horse barns in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. We would pet the horses' faces and feed them carrots and apples. They are such beautiful, gentle creatures.
