WASHINGTON, DC, US, February 23, 2005 (Refocus Weekly) Energy and environmental groups in the United States have urged federal politicians to undertake a “vast expansion” of the use of renewable energies.

In letters delivered to president George Bush and officials in the Senate and the House of Representatives as the Kyoto Protocol came into force, 33 organizations urged a reduction of production of greenhouse gases “through a mix of policies designed to shift energy use away from fossil fuels and towards greatly improved energy efficiency and a vast expansion of the use of renewable energy sources.”

“In spite of the consistency and severity of these warnings, the United States remains wedded to a climate policy that is based almost totally on voluntary measures, carbon sequestration, and long-term research,” the letter notes. “Such a policy is not only inadequate, it is irresponsible.”

How true. Bush will be viewed by historians as the WORST president of all time.
