I don't think Abbas = Arafat, Nadine. Just how far he is removed from Arafat's rascality is yet to be determined. I understand he was a rabid terrorist in the past. You can hardly act as Arafat's lieutenant for 40 years if you are the least bit squeamish about terrorism. No, Abbas has never said a word to indicate that terror is wrong; his only objections are pragmatic, that it didn't work. The terrorists are still the heroes of Palestine, just wait to see if Abbas ever even says anything else. The hope isn't that Abbas is better, just that he is more pragmatic for the cause. If he wants some order in the house and a working government, that would be a big improvement. Then let the Pal's howl. If they armor up-get artillery for instance-and try to attack, they will be easy to beat. They can only be successful with these small scale sneak attacks. Russia is already talking about selling them armor. And of course, everybody from the US to the Euroniks to Russia is talking about all the rewards that the Pals deserve for their big "reforms". Arafat died and they held a fake election to replace him with his lieutenant, some reform.
