Well, I enter positions with the intention of holding them for an extended period but that doesn't mean I just check on them once a year. I watch all the time to make sure that fundamental premise on which I bought them is still valid and the technicals are constructive. If the situation changes, you have to update your playbook. I agree that everyone has to work within a style that is suited to their temperament (I ain't no day trader). As long as it makes money, that is the key. Reminiscences of a Stock Operator really made me think about my approach to the market...
