umm, my bosses treat me like I'm a criminal allied with al Qaeda. At least you get to avoid them, mostly, except when they're busy losing your passport.
As far as I can tell 'quality service' ranks pretty low on management's personal agenda. Some of the craft employees try to be helpful, but if we are spotted being helpful that dangerous behavior is quickly stamped out.
One of our clerks was waiting on an elderly woman who needed to fill out a form. The woman couldn't see well, so the clerk helped her out by asking questions and and filling in the form for her.
Well, No Good Deed Goes Unpunished.
The clerk was spotted by our station manager, who took her aside and reprimanded her for what she did. We can't have employees assisting customers, now can we? I'm positive the station manager would have taken that customer aside and given her a letter of warning, too, but alas, it's much harder to discipline customers, and besides she had already hobbled off on her walker. |
