Your post is both thought provoking and fascinating-----I was intrigued with the results of monitoring people for lung cancer with and without x-rays.

There may be a psychological component here in addition to the x-rays that affect the body. Those who received the x-rays had to undergo the stress of medical appointments and the stress associated with waiting for results and learning the results.

Whereas, those who just wended their way, so to speak, did not have the same psychological stress. If they knew they were a part of the study, then they may have some stress from knowing they could possibly get or have lung cancer.
