I'm all for anything that equalizes the weapons of the little guy vs. the big guy... My concern was primarily with some of the gripe sites... [which] can ruin a repuation of an individual or a small business, just because of a personal grudge or affair.

Prior to the Internet, if a big company wanted to pummel you legally into silence, what recourse did you have? You certainly couldn't match their legal fees, command the same news coverage, or pay for enough media exposure to get your word out. But now, via the net, you can at least take them on in the court of public opinion.

True, this newfound "power" is a double-edged sword that can also be used to injure an innocent person. However, that person also can easily and likely affordably fight back on the net as well. And just because someone starts a web site that "attacks" you doesn't mean it will automatically be afforded credibility.

Whether you are talking about a gun, a car, or free speech, very little in life that can be used for good also can't be used for evil. You just need to keep your options open and have faith in humanity.
