The Taliban wasn't chosen to lead the Afghanis. The Taleban won the tribal wars and took over forcibly. There was never an election.

I thought about it and the only country where we should fear the elected outcome would be in Pakistan. Those folks very well would vote an Al Qaeda like government to power. However, Egypt definitely would not. Iran's people are more Western and educated than any other Arab country in the Middle East. Iraq would not; they are going the route of Turkey. Turkey did not. They are an a fine example of an Islamic Democracy. Saudi Arabian press has been agitating against the monarchy for some time. They would likely elect some form of government that was more Islamic than the others, but if they were alowed to choose, they wouldn't trade one form of despotism for another.

It's amazing. You liberals claim to be so caring and empathetic, yet you don't even want to consider the possibility that free people are less of a danger to others than oppressed people. One thing I know for sure: when people are busy making their own lives better through hard work, they don't often spend alot of time planning for the destruction of other people's lives.
