Mr C.
I am a long time lurker on this thread. I have valued the point of views and benefited from them. I thought I can/should add some clarity re Turkey/investment risk.

I am Turkish by birth. Left Turkey in 1972 to US then to Canada. I am Canadian Citizen. My broad family members (parents, brothers, sisters... ) are in Turkey. I visited Turkey for 3 weeks in December/January ('05).

I have not detected any unusual adverse feeling towards US (maybe towards US policy yes.). Infact the adversity towards US among university folks was stonger in 60s during Vietnam war.

As some posters indicated , Turkey is a democratic and secular country, and has been friendly to foreign investment during my life time (50+).

Turkey does not pose any unique investment risk as far as I know. The economy is better now, inflation is 10-15 % vs 100% few years ago.
Regards,

Omer
