Add the atrocity today against the shiaa in iraq--100+ dead in suicide bombing directed against shiaa. Article in the NYTimes today about Bush admin buying into incentives for Iran not to develop nukes. Sharon making alot of noise against syrian based military wing of islamic jihad who took credit for latest atrocity in Tel Aviv. Now the Syrians complying with requests (a start) in turning over iraqi insurgents. Saudis on anti-terror side. Egypt opening up electoral system (a start). France involved in Lebanon and against syria.
MIx all this in a pot and you can see an anti terror strategy that it is hoped will ultimately include iran and syria. Shiaa are the targets in much of arabia. Iran needs western friends more than nukes. Syria needs peace with Israel and return of Golan. Lebanon needs to be free. There are reasons to hope that even the mullahs might one day get it. Bin Laden Wahabism is the threat to the world. Israel/Pal can be settled and if iran/syria go along with it and cease hostilities in that area, maybe all else is possible. Woke up this morning with this thought. Less than a belief but more than just a dream. Mike
