China has no individual human rights, rule of law, representative government, respect for minorities, freedom of speech and/or acknowledgement that the people of Tibet don't want to be a part of their country. But you are holding up the fact that China is becoming more capitalistic as a sign that the carrot approach is better than the stick approach. Well, read on.... No, I said that China is transitioning to a capitalistic form of economy and typically when that happens, individual freedoms grow. No one offered China economic carrots to make that transition. An example of what I'm talking about is the interaction between the EU and Turkey. ted
