How about: Let 'em go if they want to. I'll give you 10-1 that REALLY faced with that preospect, they won't do it. If they do, they have to buy ought Canadian gov't federal property on their territory. The US and the remained of Canada break relations and cut off trade. Starve and freeze sone sense into them. Oh, and Canada and the US deny the French flyover rights to Quebec. Then they have to come in fron the Arctic.

It's one thing to have principled disagreements and discuss them from a starting point of basic good will.
That's what the US and Canada used to have- -when they had disagreements which weren't that often. There are reasons that's the longest undefended border in the world and Canada is 1/2 of NORAD and 1/3 of NAFTA. We need (both of us) to get back to them. We need each other. While we are your largest trading partner, Canada is a whole lot of our foreign trade too.
