Well, you're being pretty confusing then, in response to my statement that the stick is a superior approach than carrots when dealing with authoritarian, dictatorial regimes, you wrote:

Not if the carrots are really juicy. Look at China.......it is voluntarily transitioning to a capitalist country. I think its the economic success of the democracies that is causing this transition. Holding out economic carrots makes the transition all that more palatable.

Sorry you misunderstood what I was posting. Would it make you happy if I bled some?

But now you are writing

No, I said that China is transitioning to a capitalistic form of economy and typically when that happens, individual freedoms grow. No one offered China economic carrots to make that transition.

Which seems odd because YOU brought China up as the example of how juicy carrots work

Okay. I am making a cut right now. How long do I need to bleed?

Since you profess to be on term of geopolitical events and nations, I didn't think I would have to make a clearer distinction but obviously I do.

I was making two points:

The first: Capitalism is so attractive that even communist nations are converting;

The second: economic carrots can be used to encourage nations to democracy.

Is that clearer now?

I'll scratch that one down to rambling, I guess.

An example of what I'm talking about is the interaction between the EU and Turkey.

Sure it is, buy nobody knows what it is that you are talking about....

You are not very good with sarcasm. You need to chill.
