It's because the hard left at Harvard has wanted to get him ever since he took over. Too much of a "centrist" for them. Coming out against stopping Israeli investment was the tipping point I believe it was Summers that got a bit of flack for questioning Cornell West's lazy scholarship. Not a popular guy at Harvard.
