<<Quality ALWAYS is the final winner. I wonder if Lasermaster has projected growth like RGFX>>
I don't see these printers as being very profitable for LaserMaster but they will sell them like hotcakes because they are a very nice product with an extremely attractive pricetag. You don't need to have good growth numbers to sell a printer.
<<Do the recently released printers by Lasermaster beat RGFX in speed and quality of picture??>>
Please, request some print samples from each company. 8 color produces a wider color gamut than 6 color which translates into better image quality. The LMTS products are priced competitively with the P1000. They are not as fast but you can almost buy 3 DisplayMaker 5000's for the price of a 6 color P5000. If you combine 3 printers with Wasatch Inc's PosterMaker multitasking RIPs, you can drive all 3 simultaneously at full speed.
<<I feel you know the products very well but are having trouble understanding the market.>>
I may be purchasing a DisplayMaker 5000 soon. That is market understanding at its finest. I started this thread because I thought that RGFX had products that I would like to own (afford is something else but I can still dream) but wanted a realistic, no-hype discussion and I am simply delivering.
<<In my opinion you should think you have a good investment or go and invest in a company that produces losses and is losing market share>>
I do not recommend LMTS as a good stock to be holding. The competitive nature of the industry will prove to be bad for everyone involved EXCEPT the consumer. We are actually seeing deflation - just watch, RGFX will cut the price of the P5000 soon. I bought RGFX because I thought they were a newcomer with some nice products but I have yet to see an advertisement for any of their products in the 5+ industry pubs that I read monthly. The extra marketing expenses that they have predicted are for trade shows for them to get fat on. Take the wife and kids, let the company pay for it all. You should go to DPI sometime, its a blast but everyone there is a retiree who won't drop a dime on a product. I see HP, CalComp, LaserMaster, and Encad products advertised all over. They have a tremendous following and very good reputations as they do products. Awards are nice, but unless the market is aware, how can they buy? I would love to see a big full page ad with a P5000 next to the DPI, Seybold, and Digital Graphics awards. I'm not saying that RGFX won't sell anymore printers, they just won't have that tremendous upside potential if they don't start targeting the end users who sit down after a 16 hour day and read a magazine.
The article on the price of consumables wasn't an article but rather a statement from someone who was considering a RGFX product. Please call the sales at RGFX and ask for prices and then compare them with prices for consumable from Charrette, Airmark, etc.
