well, there is a lot different between now and the 70s... the largest being the efficiency and competitiveness of US corps. In the 70s, the entire world was kicking our butt.

However, as you can probably tell, I am fed up. I have been through bear markets before. I was even an investor in the late 80s while at Berkeley because my roomie in college was related to Charles Schwab and she set up an acct for me. All my life, recessions have been followed by bull markets. Not this time.

I am also not happy with the current load of deficit spending. We are still adding to these gross deficits, mostly due to iraq and other things we can't get out of now. I agree Bush can't start any more wars, mostly because we can't afford them. But we don't have a balanced budget either. The deficit is about 3-4x what I am comfortable with, anyway.
