Re: If you think we are failing in the Middle East, then you are ignoring the evidence

Such as this?

Or perhaps such as this?

Of course, you can tell me that anyone can say anything with statistics, and this is true.

However, we have certain facts that are perfectly clear. On May 1, 2003 George Bush infamously announced "Mission Accomplished" aboard the USS Lincoln. At that date fewer than 200 U.S. military personnel had been killed in action in Iraq. Today, that number is just under 1,500, with the number of mercenaries, contractors and soldier-of-fortune a closely guarded secret of the Department of War-mongering.

I think I can see a trend here. I believe there is evidence of it. What I cannot see is how you can delude yourself into thinking that democracy in the Middle East has anything to do with our presence there. At this writing, the U.S. military has occupied four permanent bases in Iraq, and about 10 others are under development.

The U.S. did not go into Iraq in order to spread democracy, we went there to permanently occupy and dominate the region by military force.

I would strongly encourage you to get a grip on reality by reading "The Sorrows of Empire" by Chalmers Johnson: tinyurl.com

Your understanding of the actual goals of the U.S. corporatocracy in the Middle East are woefully naive.
