Ray,

I may have a slight case of obtuseness here but I don't really see what the wingnuts (proto-fascists) have to gain from Safire saying, basically, that shrub is an inept diplomat.
It doesn't seem to me that he's saying shrub's a centrist....just that he doesn't appear at all capable of playing effectively in the bigs....which is true.

Granted he is a wild-eyed lunatic right wing fringe deviant nutcase though...
It's probably a good thing he's a buffoon. I couldn't imagine how bad things would be if he were a competent wild-eyed lunatic right wing fringe deviant nutcase.

And "anonymous"'s angle, as you correctly ID, was blatantly obvious. Wingnuts aren't much for real subtlety.

9/11 introduced a kind of virus into the socio-political body of this country and with shrub as (gag) "ceo", immunity to it was very weak. One symptom of the resulting diarhea has been a nasty flow of wingnuttery (proto-fascism).

An unfettered press would be the first defense but that doesn't look promising so far. The progressive blogs and .orgs are carrying alot of weight right now...at least they're trying. It will have to come down to the people eventually...hopefully before it gets to where the rest of the world perceives that it's forced to try a less than diplomatic solution themselves.
