When does PC stop being anything but a hinderance?

I don't think what you call "PC" is a hindrance.

I don't think it's a "hindrance" to not be able to call blacks "nigger" or Jews "kike" or women "broads" or handicapped people "gimps" and "cripples."

I don't think it's a hindrance to not be able to publicly discuss, for example, that affirmative action is a waste because black people/women/Latinos/write your own minority are too inferior for the job. (I am not a fan of affirmative action, but it's definitely NOT because I think minorities are inferior.)

I agree that this type of behavior belongs in the locker room at the local KKK.

It's impossible to be perfect, so I'd rather err on the side of politeness. If that means that people feel nervous about causing offense, good. Let them be nervous about causing offense.

I call that "civility."
