But you can have accounts which are nominally joint but functionally separate. That's what Chris and I do. He has de facto exclusive use of the Patent Office Federal Credit Union account, I have de facto exclusive use of the SunTrust account, but both accounts are jointly titled. In the event of death or disability, I can access his funds and vice versa.

We do trust each other. You have to, with this arrangement.
