J.G., I just finished "A random walk down wall street" by Malkiel - the Efficient Market Theory Guru from Princeton. Seems that computerized analysis for the last century shows that technical analysis is not a means of increasing one's wealth...

It would also appear that buying calls / puts is not too profitable over the long term unless, of course, one were able to cause more volatility in the stock than has been priced into the premium. ... but I'm sure that the ethical standards of all the posters here at Silicon Investor would prevent them from posting false or misleading information with the sole intention of increasing volatility ;-)

I guess that some of those puts are getting close to expiry. Any guesses as to who might post some negative rumors in the near future? I've never speculated on the option market - is it true that if you guess wrong about price direction or the timing, you end up with NOTHING? - not even any options to hold for another day?

At least when buying shares, one need only select a winning company at a fair price and then be patient. IMHO, there are a large number of good companies at bargain prices available now.

Best of luck to all,

Ian.
