The people of Iraq have elected a new government. The term, insurgents was a stretch before the election, but it is incorrect now. They are murderers...terrorists. Vile disgusting people that have no respect for human life. They are killing their own people indiscriminantly...there is no justification for what they are doing. I agree with your description of the situation in Iraq. It is vile and disgusting. But look deeper to see what motivates people. Yes there was an election. But was the outcome of the election ever in doubt? The majority Shia elected...get this...a Shia government. The minority Sunni used to be in power before the invasion by the US troops. Now they are suddenly going to find themselves sucking hind teet? Many Sunni didn't even bother to vote, because they already knew they were screwed. The Sunni, ousted militarily by the US, are still thinking that they can control the country...through guerilla warfare. They don't want to give up the wealth and power and self determination they had...and are still clinging on to. It's a tribal thing. One that has been talked about on these boards and on the news for years. The Bushes would do the same thing if a revolution came and threatened all their wealth and power. You wouldn't expect W to roll over and accept a bunch of hoodlums wearing Kerry t-shirts taking over Washington...to just give up power would ya?
