Well, the major piece of that equation are these high oil prices, as you said. The talking heads keep chanting the talking point that the economy can handle $50 oil and not have inflation. They are full of shit, what they are attempting to do is get people used to the idea of the $50 price point.

If you go back to the 13 thread, I used to talk about the signal that chemical co's can give when they are making either new highs or new lows.

Also of interest, I just read an article about the CPI, and the upshot is the way they figure housing prices using "owners-equivalent rent" rather than using actual housing prices leads to a >doubling of the CPI number.
(2.44% to 5.38%, for the 1 year period through Sept) Now if that is a true inflation number, what now?
Something to think about, actual reality vs some made up bs number.
