Besause they see the Iraqi Shia as US collaborators.

That is just for now. After the Shias succeed against the Sunnis, they will then turn against the US. This is not just my opinion from my armchair. I am just looking at what Osama did where he fought alongside the US against the Russians and then turned against the US when the Russian threat abated.

THat is what I call politics. Not religious fundamentalism etc. We are seeing the same situation with US relations with Europe. They have banded together against the US, the very nation, as the right wing would say, who helped them out during WWII.
