The age of 18--

As for kids in school -- personally, I think keeping them in high school until they're 18 is stupid. Just warehousing them, keeping them out of the work force. Good for labor unions, reduces cheap competition, good for the teacher's unions, keeps them in full employment

I would agree wholeheartedly-
Wouldn't you first have to change the age of being an 'adult' in a legal sense before you could implement responsibilities.
Age is what controls "responsibility" in law and business.
(heck today we learnt the gov't can't kill them(below18) legally)
or
will a law like drinking (age 21- federally enforced) would
be needed for that specific issue, which has very broad
implications.
BTW kids 18 like to goto Western WA U in Bellingham because its so close to the Canadian line (and drinking age is still 18 or 19)

As for teacher's union -- have you read where Berkeley, CA teachers will not give out home work because they don't want
to grade it because they aren't paid to do it. They say they
are only paid to work only '8' hours a day.
