Yeah. I'm sure the Soviets took that into consideration. :-)

We participated in the DEW (Distant Early Warning) line of radar stations, which were on our soil.
A lot. Not all. Some were in Alaska and Greenland.

We even briefly allowed RCAF interceptors to be equipped with U.S. nuclear-tipped Bomarc air-to-air missiles against the Soviet bomber threat (although that dispute did contribute to the fall of a government).
Briefly? What good would those jet fighters be if they couldn't bring down the bombers?

Hey, I know it's an unpleasant and nasty subject, but Canada's choice was to act like it was in NATO, or become a Soviet province.

The astonishing thing is how far we've gotten away from the concept of 'statesmen'. It's petty politics at its apogee
"Statesmen" are conspicuous by their absence down here too.
