My kids hate baseball. They find it dull. You have to realize my children have all been playing instruments since they were young, and are much more interested in music than the average kid. So while I am sure baseball is "a heck of a lot more fun" for some kids- mine would find it rather dreary (and when I did take them to a game, they hated it, and insisted on leaving early, and never wanted to repeat the experience). I actually am not always up to as much opera as my kids are. My daughter is still chastising me for dragging her out of Don Giovanni before the end because my son was coughing so much I was afraid he would disturb other people. I know it's entertaining for you to make fun of what is out of the ordinary, but my kids and I can't really help the way we are. I don't think we deserve to be mocked or belittled in any way because we like opera. I'm not sure why you think it is appropriate to make an issue of it. IMO what you are doing is rude and distasteful. That other children should enjoy baseball I think is wonderful. I think it is also wonderful that my children are musicians and enjoy music more than the average child. If one can live and let live, there is probably room for us all.

"Fun" is something that will vary from person to person, and child to child. I see no reason to argue over what is more "fun". It seems an argument bred solely for the sake of argument.
