Well... generally true, yes.

But I sure wouldn't buy puts against RIMM.

Also, when I trade options, unless the market is in a flat out foaming-at-the-mouth bull run or screaming doomsday selloff, I generally like to have some long and some short positions. If I think the market is in a fairly strong uptrend, I will weight things to the long side and buy more call option positions, but still try to maintain at least one short position (puts). If I think there is a fair downtrend, I buy mostly puts, but always try to have at least 1 call position.
