I am having very deja vu experiences with my elderly client, that remind me remarkably of being a parent. Today I helped him put on his shoes, and helped him walk, and buttered his bread. Too bad he doesn't have a wife or a daughter, that would save him a lot of money. I don't charge him for these services but the nursing home isn't cheap, and if he had a female family member he could stay home.

I can't persuade either of his sons to come to his aid.

I agree that women are more inclined to such roles, but on the other hand, my brother and brother in law are both nurses.

With respect to math and physics, whether or not women are statistically less likely to do well or not is simply irrelevant.

You can't tell by looking at a woman whether she is good at math or not. Just knowing that she's female tells you nothing about those abilities. She might be the next Marie Curie, she might be totally inumerate. Anybody who tells you differently is a liar.

The only decent thing to do is not care what her gender is, but treat her no differently than you treat males, and let her show what she can do as best she can.

It's no more polite or reasonable to mention that she's female than it would be to mention that she's pretty or ugly or white or black or rich or poor or large breasted or flat chested. Statistics don't tell you anything about individuals.
