this is simply untrue
people do incredibly stupid things in voluntary transactions all the time- in fact, they engage in transactions that ruin them. Nations can do that too.

I disagree with a great deal more in your post, but I see that we are fundamentally so far apart on policy, we will never agree. Higher savings may indeed lead to a recession, and imo we need to suffer through one if it occurs. I'm not the only person to think so. I realize you think that because I do not agree with you it's a problem with my economic thinking. There are plenty of real economists who say the sort of things I am saying. I'm not the only person worried about the trade deficit. The condescension is a real added treat though, so thanks a bunch.
