could it be BA didn't have the equipment to fix the plane at lax and would have had to fly it back to England anyway or fly an engine to lax?

my wife took a charter from nyc to Galway back in 60's something blew on plane just before take off. they put them up in a local hotel while the charter company had to fly a part from lax to Galway to make repairs.

Of course no one notified passengers how long the delay would be or people like us who drove to nyc to pick up passengers. I still remember driving up from philly with three small kids, park, get into terminal, no plane, no one knows when it will arrive, what happen, etc.

At least communications are better today.. ha ha Except if you fly into philly via usair.. you may not get your bags for weeks.
