Employer’s Chosen Physician Commits Malpractice,
LA Woman Loses Her Health, Her Car, Her Life As She Knew It.
MARIA ADONICAN had a great life before she was injured at work. Maria spent many years working for California Children’s Services and the County of Los Angeles as a medical case worker, helping the parents of disabled children work through their housing and other social needs.
Maria was referred to a physician by her employer, underwent two lumbar decompressions, but the physician severed a nerve during surgery, causing Maria to endure pain, probably for life.

The Agreed-upon Medical Examiner (AME) in the case recommended a lumbar surgery that her Primary Treating Physician had been recommending for over a year.

The insurance carrier has refused to authorize the surgery. The insurance adjuster has sent the AME’s report to Utilization Review.

Maria has lost her car.

She cannot live on the disability benefits she is receiving.

She has faced an obstacle course at every turn in attempting to get the medical care her doctor has prescribed.
