Bob,

Looking back, Alomex never seemed like a very happy man (?). I hope hope his/her decision brings him/her some peace. He/she works for a network solutions company called "OpenText". That must be kind of embarassing when you're trying to disassociate yourself from Apple/Next.

Regarding the "coffin nails", we eat that stuff for breakfast.

Actually, I agree with every point you made (I guess we're having a love fest, right?).

And since we're letting our hair down, I use a PowerComputing box (I guess that's sort of an Apple, now), I own AAPL shares and am long (duh).

I'd like to run a scenario by you. It has to do with the fact that Jobs and Gates have been friends since this world began (a fact that seems to be lost on a lot of folks). They both don't seem too interested in money, as they both have more than they'll ever need. They both (in their own ways) seem to be interested in following through on the revolution they created, by taking it to some grand level. Now, Steve's alway been a better talker than Bill (they like to call it his "reality distortion field", but for anyone else, that would read: Good salesman or inspirational speaker.) And Bill has always had "OS envy" of Steve's creations. Maybe Steve sat Bill down and talked him into joining forces to bring the World the one great OS that it needs. Bill could stop worrying how he was going to improve 95/NT, which doesn't seem to have anything exciting going for it and had scalability problems and such. With Bill's market share and Steve's software and programming team, they'd be ready for the future. No more battles. Just progress. It could be sold like MS was an even partner in its creation, so they could save face. It will run on every kind of box (including most of the boxes currently in use.) Let the market decide the winner between PPC and Intel. So everybody has to buy new software. Let em' bitch. In the final analysis they'll have to give in if MS backed it, and they'll be better off for it. Bill continues to be King of the World. Steve becomes a prince. Apple goes through the roof. The world's a better place.

Regards,

Scott
