Well, maybe the speak police would rather that which is not known to be true or false.......or that which might offend......should not be spoken of until proven, but humans don't work that way, and questions would not be answered if that it were so.

I said I thought it was a mis-judgment. First you assumed that my basis was the truth of the statement. Disabused of that, you assumed my basis was the offense given. No, that's not it, either. I'm not sympathetic to offense any more than to outrage. While people are entitled to both, neither makes any sense to me.

If I stopped right there, would you just come up with a new assumption? Or would you ask me what I had in mind? I ask because I have noticed how commonly folks go with their inferences rather than asking for clarification. One of the interesting phenomena hereabouts.

I'll answer the unasked question. I posted that I thought it was a mis-judgment back when the thread was still talking about Eason. I said at the time that I thought both statements were mis-judgments. My basis was that the two individuals were in positions where they should have realized that their statements would accomplish nothing towards their objectives yet could cause a stir that threatened their positions. In other words, dumb move.
