StopCarly.com - Stop Carly Fiorina from becoming President of the World Bank
stopcarly.com

March 1, 2005, Washington: After Paul Wolfowitz pulled out of contention for World Bank president, attention turned within the Bush administration to former Hewlett-Packard Co. Chief Executive Carly Fiorina as a potential candidate to lead the bank.

I am a businessman and a taxpayer. The United States gives money each year to the World Bank to help fund its projects. I like what the World Bank is doing. I do not want to see it destroyed and my taxpayer money wasted. I have watched Carly Fiorina destroy shareholder value and employees' jobs at HP first and then the merged HP/Compaq disaster. I do not believe she has the skills to run the World Bank. Below are comments from concerned people. If you would like to have your opinion heard, please email StopCarly@StopCarly.com. -- Harry Newton, New York

From Concerned People -- posted March 2, 2005

The World Bank is an institution that permeates the global financial fabric. It has a mandate to foster and create opportunity in parts of the world that are developing and its CEO requires an acute understanding of what is required by prospective recipient countries to help their peoples emerge from oppressive conditions through sponsored wise capital investment. The Bank has been fortunate in the past to attract capable and financially experienced executives to promote these ends. If it has hopes to continue its good works, it must recruit a new leader with similar experience. If rumors are correct that Ms. Carly Fiorina is a candidate, she falls desperately short in terms of training, experience, temperament and capability to be seriously considered as a candidate. The US would be wise to seek other more competent and acceptable alternatives. -- from Dan God

This must not happen. Absolutely not qualified. -- from Gerald Chalmers

We live in a society where we reward the stupid and incompetent and penalize the hard working everyday person who is trying to do something good. Just look around at all the CEO's that have screwed up and been fired and look at their severance package. If Carly is appointed President of the World Bank perhaps we should see to it that the headquarters of the World Bank is moved together with its President to some Third World Country. -- Anthony Cutrona

Her track record stinks. Why let her continue? She's like Professional sports coach---Go 1-15 for a season, get fried and 3 more teams want you--Makes ZERO SENSE. -- from Todd Kingsley

I wish to voice my opinion regarding the possible appointment of Ms. Fiorina as head to the World Bank...I do not think she should be considered for such an important appointment. In my opinion she has not demonstrated a capability to perform such a function. -- from James Bolls

I have no idea what anyone is thinking in considering her for this post. If it is political correctness, there HAS to be a female more qualified that Fiorina. This woman destroyed Lucent Technologies, the leader by far in their field and reduced them to a small "has been" corporation. She then walked into Hewlett Packard, started running it into the ground, abandoned company traditions (among them employment for life), hacked, slashed and then did that disastrous merger with Compaq that finally finished that company off. Now that Hewlett Packard is dead, we want to feed her a new victim?

She is bad enough for corporations in the USA but do we want United States legacy in the history books to reflect that we sent this demon out to run the entire global economy into the ground. History shows that World Wars can start from things like this. I can see it now, IMF loans to distressed nations with stipulations that will insure that they only grow deeper in debt, destroy the small amounts of infrastructure they do have and it just keeps spreading. Eventually there are no stabile countries left and Armageddon breaks out. Chalk another one up for Carly as we hide in our bunkers. -- Lee Lichterman

We can't understand why she shouldn't get the appointment but can somebody please explain why she possibly should? -- Bev and Ian Pryer, Sydney Australia
