By coincidence, I'm currently reading How to Be Invisible by an extremely paranoid individual named J. J. Luna (pseudonym?).

He first became invisible to stay clear of the Spanish Secret Police under Generalissimo Franco, but now (he remains invisible) it is just a precaution against the unexpected. Anyway, the book does contain "a slight amount perhaps about the way better of surviving and of taking avoiding a step on officially toes at least for now," in keeping with the thread header.
