While not perfect most people prefer the two-party system as opposed to what can be found in Canada. It accentuates the center and either party that strays too far from it suffers for it. As for the Sabato suggestion of an impending republican split, I don't see it in 08'. Republican's for the moment seem to have taken over the center ground and the democratic response has been to just move further to the left into a virtual no man's land as depicted in Prager's November column "Why Democrats are tagged as the party without values." townhall.com * * *
