I just sent this Email to Barbara Demick. After reading your two dispatches this week on North Korea, It is time to set up an annual "Walter Duranty" prize for reporting and make you the first recipient. Not since Walter's lies about Russia during the purges has any American reporter reached your depths in reporting on a tyrant. The North Korean agent who posed as a "businessman" and fed you the nonsense you accepted so uncritically will be well rewarded by his government for bamboozling you. Shame on you for writing the "story," and shame on the LA Times for publishing it.
