Hi Grace,
Climbing has other connotation's today like ropes, petons, vertical walls, ice axes etc... Like you my feet are on the ground. But winter climbs require (at times), ropes, ice axes, crampons, and snowshoes.
My wife and I lived in Montana for years and climbed (ie: hiked)... in many of the peaks surrounding the Yellowstone area... We were especially in love with the Spanish Peaks. I'd have to get out the maps to remember peak names.
As a youngster the first climbs were in New Hampshire's White Mts... after moving back east.. (wonder why sometimes) I returned to the Whites and climbed all those over 4,000 ft (47) and just about all others over 3,000 ft (100+).
Every few years we pick a new mountain range somewhere in the world and spend two weeks wandering at high altitudes. Been to Italy, France, Switzerland, Canadian Rockies, Northwest Canada and have plans for Spain, Argentina/Chile, Nepal and once again back to the west coast to enjoy places like MT Hood and Ranier.
