I think they are both correct. You can probably connect as many Brocade
switches together as you want. You just have to keep the traffic
light if you connect too many of them together. Just as a hypothetical
class 2/3 phone system would work if the volume of phone calls was
light enough. Another analogy is ethernet networks which are
connectionless and yet can scale to hundreds of ports. They work fine
as long as they are used for E-Mail and other low volume data.
