"While not perfect most people prefer the two-party system as opposed to what can be found in Canada."

I don't know about Canada... (a Parlimentary system is rather different from our Republican one)... but I don't think all that many people are very enamored of the stultification that has resulted from our unfortunate political oligopoly... and the high barriers to entry the dominant 'Republi-crat' party has imposed on the system, the resulting stagnation, lack of political participation, squelching of new ideas, the sell-outs to vested interests, etc.

Nor would our Founding Fathers have even been able to recognize our current political dynamic I believe --- they *never* intended for an oligopoly of two 'Parties' stifling the political process.
