No, because the people they wanted to give the bonuses to were people putting their life on the line in a highly way statistically so. And the bonuses were offered (I believe) only if they stay for the entire duration. What about my post sounded facetious - did you really see it?

I didn't see the post, but I know of the bonues....they are only for Special Forces NCOs (non commissioned officers). Very tiny percentage of the military population. The typical bonus runs considerably below $150, more in the 10K to 15K range. It's a dangerous poorly paying job Amy, no matter your position or rank. On instinct alone, I would look for savings where it does not take away from folks who join, sometimes for lack of options.
